This weekend, we got a glimpse of what might look like this summer (hopefully!): 30 degrees, sunny, ideal for walking in town and enjoy the wonderful terraces Quebec whatever! But how many men have given me smile with their pint (or should I say, their pitcher?) beer "refreshing" in hand? And we, ladies, took advantage, with our sangria! Although these precious liquids are part of life's pleasures, I must remind you that in this period of intense heat and humidity boring, alcohol in abundance, it is not the ideal place to keep hydrated ...
"I'm never dehydrated ... and a beer, it takes away the thirst!"
Really? Then you contradict yourself ... For when we perceive thirst, we are already dehydrated! This is just the first sign ... Fatigue, irritability, dark urine, sunken eyes and dry mouth give the alarm. Drink at any time, even when you're not thirsty!
In addition, a hot and humid, you sweat. And when you sweat, our bodies lose a significant amount of water. In fact, if you count the urine and feces, you can lose more than 2.5 liters of water daily. Although many liquids (or even food, yes, yes!) Can stay hydrated, there has better than others ...
Not every day ...
- Alcohol in all its forms! Beers, "coolers" wine (whatever color !)... Alcohol, like the coffee high dose, is "diuretic". This means that it makes us pee more, and so ... lose water! But it is the excess must be avoided here. Before drinking alcohol, rehydrate yourself with a glass of water. So you'll be less inclined to snap your glass ... and a second drink to quench your thirst!
- Coffee. Let's put this straight ... Coffee does not dehydrate, if taken in moderation. It contains water and therefore helps to stay hydrated when it drinks less than 4 cups of 250 ml each day. But beyond this quantity is its diuretic that dehydrates us, just like alcohol!
- tea and iced coffee commercial. They are a concentrated dose of sugar ... See it more as a dessert for the occasion!
- The milkshakes and smoothies of Commerce. They are sweet and often very bold wish (for milkshakes, especially) ... Send them home with fresh fruit, milk and yogurt (go all in a blender) and it will be much better!
- Exit the punch and fruit cocktails. That sugar! And anyway, we have our dose of "artificial flavors" with "pop-shekels" ...
- Soft drinks. Well, OK, with hamburgers and hot dogs, I can understand! But apart from special occasions, drop this carbonated sugar syrup ... And diet versions? Also to avoid ... They merely "tickle" your sweet tooth and keep your taste for sugar.
Alternative to "really" moisturizing
- Fruit juice 100% pure (no sugar added)! But not too ... Even if it contains sugar "natural" fruit juice I doubt that calms your hunger, despite all the calories it contains. It will be even better with fresh fruit! You will enjoy the fruit of the fibers, which will fill you up until your next meal ...
- A glass of milk (very very) cold in different flavors (plain, chocolate, strawberry, vanilla ...): Calories, certainly, but also a variety of vitamins, minerals and proteins, to cut off your hunger!
- A milkshake ... Home! (See my suggestion above)
Master of hydration ... WATER!
This should be your first choice! Drink-in throughout the day. Not always easy, however, to be near a water source (pathetic, when did know you can always find a can of Coke in one of the millions of vending machines that invade our environment!)
To help you, always drag a reusable water bottle with you (car, gym bag, purse, backpack, office, etc..) And if that is the taste of water (attendez. .. Is it tastes?) demotivates you to drink, I have THE solution for you ... No, not this famous little powdered sugar aspartame-based, but much better! Here:
1. Pour your water into a nice big glass (why not a glass of wine?) Or a bottle, which "draws" the eye.
2. Add ice cubes to the water is very frrrrroide! And fantasy, why not ice cubes made from fruit juice?
3. I bet that cranberries, raspberries, sliced strawberries, orange slices, lime or lemon will give it to your glass of water "flat" one affects many attractive ...
4. Refreshment guaranteed with fresh mint leaves ... Mmmm!
I did perhaps not convinced, ladies and gentlemen, to abandon your pitcher of beer or a glass of sangria ... But remember, moderation is always in good taste (what catchphrase, but oh so TRUE!)
Go all in! :)
